PROVINCIAL Council (Payment of Salaries and Allowances) (Amendment) Statute No. 03 of 2002 of the Provincial Council of the North Western Province.

The above mentioned Statute made by the Provincial Council of the North Western Province on [6.09.2003 and assented to by the Governor of North Western Province on 26.09,2003 is hereby published for the information of the public.

Be it passed by the Provincial Council of the North Western Province of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka as follows :

Short Title.

1. This Statute may be cited as the Provincial Council (Payment of Salaries and Allowances) (Amendment) Statute, No. 3 of 2002 of the Provincial Council of the North Western Province.

Amendment of the Long Title of the Statute No. 3 of 1989 of the Provincial Council of the North Western Province.

2. The Long Title to the Provincial Council (Payment of Salaries and Allowances) Statute. No. 3 of 1989, (hereinafter referred to as the Principal Statute) is hereby amended by the substitution for the words " to the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition ", of the words " to the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, The Leader of the House, the Ruling Party Whip, the Leader of the Opposition and the Opposition Party Whip".

Amendment of Section 2 of the principal Statute.

3. Section 2 of the Principal Statute is hereby amended by the insertion of the following paragraph immediately after paragraph (d) and shall have effect as paragraph (dd). " (dd) to the opposition Party Whip of the Provincial Council of the North Western Province, a Salary and Allowances equal to the Salary and Allowances currently payable to a member of the Provincial Council of the North Western Province together with an additional allowance of One Thousand and Five Hundred Rupees".

Amendment of Section 3 of the Principal Statute.

4. Section of the Principal Statute is hereby amended by the substitution for the words " to the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition ", of the words "to the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, the Leader of the House, the Ruling Party Whip, the Leader of the Opposition and the Opposition Party Whip." -

Sinhala text to prevail in case of inconsistency.

5. In the event of any inconsistency between the Sinhala and Tamil texts of the Statute the Sinhala text shall prevail.
